Zach is the short form of Zachary, the English version of the Hebrew Zechariah, which means "Yahweh remembers" or "God has remembered". It became a name in its own right in the 1980s and 1990s, when Zachary was a top 20 name and Zack Morris of Saved by the Bell was on television; actors Zach Braff and Zach Galifianakis carry the spelling. Zach stood at number 1893 in 2000, peaked at number 1673 in 2005 and ranks number 2515 among boys' names in 2025.
