Yechiel is a Hebrew name meaning "God lives" or "may God live". It appears in the Old Testament as the name of several Levites and is a traditional choice in Orthodox Jewish families, often paired with Michel or Meir. In the United States it is used almost exclusively in those communities and has stayed remarkably stable, ranking between number 1904 and 2545 every year since 2014 and number 1917 in 2025.
