Wilhelmina is the German and Dutch feminine form of Wilhelm, or William, which combines wil, "will", and helm, "helmet" or protection, and is usually read as "resolute protector". Queen Wilhelmina reigned over the Netherlands for 58 years and led her country from exile through the Second World War. In the United States the name is a rare vintage choice: it ranked number 9142 in 2000 and reaches number 1517 in 2025, its best rank ever.
