Susana is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Susanna, which comes from the Hebrew Shoshannah and means "lily" or, in later Hebrew, "rose". The story of Susanna and the elders in the Book of Daniel made the name a symbol of innocence and was a favorite subject of Renaissance painters. In the United States Susana sat in the top 1000 at number 717 in 2000 and has gradually declined since, ranking number 2254 in 2025.
