Juana is the Spanish feminine form of Juan, the Spanish John, and means "God is gracious" from the Hebrew Yochanan. It is one of the most traditional Spanish names, borne by the 17th-century Mexican poet Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and by Queen Juana of Castile. In the United States Juana touched the top 1000 only in 2002 at number 997, sank to 1916 in 2015 and has since recovered to number 1223 in 2025.
