Scotlyn is a modern American coinage that combines Scotland, or the nickname Scottie, with the fashionable ending -lyn, so it carries the sense of "from Scotland" or "a Scot". It belongs to the same family of blended place names as Brooklyn and Oaklyn. In the United States Scotlyn ranked number 8457 in 2000 and has climbed in recent years, from number 2655 in 2020 to a best rank of number 1388 in 2024, standing at number 1412 in 2025.
