Saraya is a modern name with more than one possible source: it is read as a variant of Soraya, the Persian name of the Pleiades star cluster, as an elaboration of the Hebrew Sarah, "princess", or simply as a melodic blend of Sarah and Maya. Wrestler Saraya Bevis, long known as Paige, has given the spelling recent visibility. Saraya moved between number 2039 and number 3910 from 2015 to 2024 and reached number 1830 in 2025, its highest rank so far.
