Santi is the Spanish short form of Santiago, Saint James, whose Hebrew root Ya'aqov is traditionally read as "supplanter". As Santiago has become one of the most popular boys' names in Hispanic America, the nickname has started to appear on birth certificates in its own right. Santi was not recorded in the United States in 2000 and has leapt from number 7434 in 2015 to number 1121 in 2025, its best rank so far.
