Rosalinda is the Spanish and Italian form of Rosalind, a Germanic name from hros, horse, and lind, "gentle" or "soft", though it has long been reinterpreted as "pretty rose" from the Spanish rosa linda. Shakespeare's heroine in As You Like It made the English form famous, and the Spanish form flourished in Mexico and the American Southwest. Rosalinda ranked number 702 in 2000, left the top 1000 soon after and stands at number 2169 in 2025.
