Rebekah is the King James Bible spelling of Rebecca, from the Hebrew Rivqah, usually explained as "to bind" or "to tie", which is often rendered more freely as "captivating". In Genesis Rebekah is the wife of Isaac and the mother of Jacob and Esau. The spelling ranked number 173 in 2000, slipped steadily over the following decades, dropped briefly out of the top 1000 in 2023 and stands at number 884 in 2025.
