Osiris is the Greek form of the Egyptian god Usir, ruler of the underworld and judge of the dead, who was killed by his brother Set and restored by his wife Isis. The meaning of the Egyptian name is uncertain; it is usually explained as "mighty one" or, from its hieroglyphs, "seat of the eye". In the United States Osiris has been used mainly by Hispanic families, entered the top 1000 at number 917 in 2020 and ranks number 1077 in 2025.
