Nyari is a short form of Nyarai, a Shona name from Zimbabwe that means "be humble" and is usually translated as "humility". It is a recent arrival in the United States, chosen by African American and Zimbabwean American parents who like its soft sound alongside Nia and Nyla. Nyari was almost unknown a decade ago, ranking number 10678 in 2015, and has climbed to number 1495 in 2025, its best position so far.
