Nehemias is the Spanish, Portuguese and Latin form of Nehemiah, a Hebrew name that means "Yahweh comforts" or "comforted by God"; in the Bible Nehemiah rebuilds the walls of Jerusalem after the exile. The name is used in Latin American Protestant and Catholic families alike. In the US it has stayed between numbers 1500 and 2000 for years and reached number 1550 in 2025, its best rank so far.
