Nariyah is a spelling of Nariah and is sometimes read directly as the Arabic nariyah, meaning "fiery" or "of fire"; others see a feminine form of the Hebrew Neriah, "lamp of God". The -iyah ending links it to Aaliyah and Amiyah, which made the sound familiar to American parents. Nariyah first peaked at number 1535 in 2010 and has returned to almost the same level, ranking at number 1608 in 2025.
