Mirabella is an elaborated form of Mirabel, a medieval name from the Latin mirabilis, "wonderful" or "admirable", and Italian ears also hear it as "look, beautiful". The 2021 Disney film Encanto gave the shorter Mirabel a boost, while the fuller form appeals to parents who like Isabella and Arabella. It remains rare in the United States: number 5441 in 2000, a peak at number 2311 in 2017 and number 2637 in 2025 with 66 girls.
