Mirabel comes from the Latin mirabilis and means "wonderful" or "admirable"; it was used in the Middle Ages and is also the name of a small sweet plum. Disney's Encanto (2021) gave the name to its heroine Mirabel Madrigal, and American parents responded immediately. Mirabel jumped from number 4214 in 2021 to number 1454 in 2022, its best rank ever, and stands at number 2575 in 2025.
