Miguel is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Michael, the Hebrew name of the archangel, which asks the rhetorical question "who is like God?". Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote, is its most famous bearer, and the hero of the Pixar film Coco brought it to American children in 2017. Miguel was number 86 among US boys' names in 2000, its best rank, and still stood at number 161 in 2015; it has eased to number 212 in 2025.
