Maze is an English word name meaning "labyrinth", from a Middle English word for bewilderment that also gave us amaze. As a given name it is a 21st-century choice with the one-syllable punch of Jace, Blaze and Cruz, and some parents use it as a respelling of the surname Mays. Maze had fewer than five births in 2000, moved from the 6000s into the 3000s during the 2010s and reaches its best rank, number 2469, in 2025 with 55 boys.
