Mavie is a modern short name that is usually linked to Mavis, the old word for the "song thrush", or to the Irish Maeve, "she who intoxicates"; in French ma vie means "my life", which adds to its charm. It is a very new arrival in the US: almost unused before 2022, it leapt to number 1058 in 2024 and ranks number 1555 among girls' names in 2025.
