Maeve is the English spelling of the Irish Medb and means "intoxicating" or "she who intoxicates", from the same root as mead. Queen Medb of Connacht is the formidable warrior queen of the Irish epic The Cattle Raid of Cooley. Maeve ranked number 778 in the United States in 2000, rose from number 452 in 2015 into the top 100 in 2023 with a peak at number 73 that year, and ranks number 76 among girls in 2025.
