Malaki is a phonetic spelling of Malachi, the Hebrew name of the last prophet of the Old Testament, which means "my messenger" or "my angel". The simpler spelling spares a child the silent ch and is especially common in African American families. Malaki entered the US top 1000 in 2004, peaked at number 783 in 2007 and has gradually slipped to number 1,258 in 2025.
