Malachi is a Hebrew name that means "my messenger" or "my angel", after the prophet whose book closes the Old Testament. It was taken up by English Puritans and has remained a quietly used biblical name ever since. In the United States Malachi ranked 351st in 2000, settled in the 150s and 160s for most of the last decade and reached number 134 in 2025, its highest position since 2000.
