Krystal is a spelling variant of Crystal, from the Greek krystallos, which means "ice" or "rock crystal" and describes the clear gemstone. The spelling with a K gained ground in the 1980s, when the glamorous Krystle Carrington of the television series Dynasty made the name a household word. Krystal ranked number 346 in 2000, dropped out of the top 1000 in the following decade and stands at number 2135 in 2025.
