Kalliope is the Greek spelling of Calliope and means "beautiful voice", from kallos, beauty, and ops, voice. In Greek mythology Kalliope was the muse of epic poetry and the mother of the singer Orpheus; the steam organ of fairgrounds was named after her. The k spelling, common in Greece and in Greek-American families, has risen from number 2728 in 2015 to number 1787 in 2025, its highest rank yet.
