Junia is the Latin feminine of Junius, a Roman family name linked to the goddess Juno and often explained as "youthful". In Romans 16:7 Paul greets a Junia as "outstanding among the apostles", which has made her a touchstone in discussions of women in the early church. In the United States Junia was practically unused in 2000 at number 13978 and has climbed steadily to number 1998 in 2025, its best rank so far.
