Josue is the Spanish, French and Portuguese form of Joshua, from the Hebrew Yehoshua, meaning "God is salvation" or "the Lord saves". Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land after Moses, and Jesus is the Greek form of the very same name. In the United States Josue is a Latino favorite: number 247 in 2000, a peak of 181 in 2007 and 330th place among boys' names in 2025.
