Iyana is a modern American variant of Ayanna and Aiyana, names of uncertain origin that are usually explained as "beautiful flower" or linked to the Hebrew Ayana, "strength". It emerged in African American naming in the 1990s alongside Iyanna and Nyla. In the United States Iyana was a top 1000 name from 2000 to the mid-2000s, peaking at number 751 in 2002, and now stands at number 2872 in 2025.
