Ivey is a variant of Ivy, the Old English name of the climbing plant "ivy", which stays green through winter and has long symbolized faithfulness and endurance. The spelling with an e is also an English surname, and it gives the short plant name a slightly more formal look. Ivey climbed from number 1772 in 2015 to the top 1000 in 2023, peaked at number 789 in 2024 and ranks 926th in 2025.
