Indi is a short form of India, Indiana or Indigo, names that go back to the river Indus and the "land of the Indus"; it also evokes the word independent and the indie music scene. As a stand-alone name it has the breezy feel of Remi and Nori. In the United States Indi ranked number 5358 in 2015, climbed to its best position of number 2115 in 2023 and stands at number 2554 in 2025.
