Remi is the French name Rémi, from the Latin Remigius, which is usually explained as "oarsman" or "rower"; Saint Remigius of Reims baptized the Frankish king Clovis around the year 500. In France it is a boys' name, but American parents have adopted the short, bright sound mostly for girls. Remi entered the US top 1000 for girls in 2013, shot from number 502 in 2015 to a peak of number 118 in 2022 and ranks 145th in 2025.
