Americans may remember India Wilkes in Gone with the Wind, and singer India.Arie brought the name back into view around 2000. India ranked number 395 in 2000 and peaked at number 299 in 2001; it hovered around the top 1000 line through the late 2010s and has since dropped to number 1722 in 2025.
