Heaven is an English word name, from the Old English heofon, and names the sky and the dwelling place of God, so it stands for "paradise" or "the heavens". It belongs to the group of hopeful virtue and faith names that American parents rediscovered in the 1990s; its reverse spelling Nevaeh followed a decade later. In the United States Heaven ranked number 341 in 2000, peaked at number 245 in 2005 and ranks number 543 among girls' names in 2025.
