Hazley is a modern American coinage that blends Hazel, the Old English tree name, with the -ley ending of Paisley and Hadley, so it is best read as "hazel meadow". It arrived when Hazel returned to the top 100 and parents wanted a fresher-sounding version. Hazley ranked number 7761 in 2015, broke into the top 3000 by 2019 and reached its best rank of number 2127 in 2024, standing at number 2568 in 2025.
