Freyja is the Old Norse name of the goddess of love, beauty and fertility, and it simply means "lady" or "mistress". The spelling with a j is the original Norse and Icelandic form, closer to the sagas than the anglicized Freya, which is the more common choice in the United States. Freyja entered the US top 1000 in 2019, peaked at number 628 in 2023 and ranks number 772 in 2025.
