Ezio is the Italian form of the Latin Aetius, a Roman family name that is usually derived from the Greek aetos and read as "eagle". Flavius Aetius was the Roman general who stopped Attila the Hun, and the name reached a new audience through Ezio Auditore, the hero of the Assassin's Creed video games from 2009 on. Ezio has risen from number 1831 in 2015 to number 1224 in 2025, its highest rank in the United States so far.
