Esdras is the Greek and Latin form of Ezra, the Hebrew name that means "help", borne by the priest and scribe who led the Jews back from Babylon; it is the spelling used in Spanish Bibles and in the apocryphal books of Esdras. In the United States it is chosen almost exclusively by Hispanic families. Esdras ranked number 2760 in 2000, peaked at number 1944 in 2023 and stands at number 2012 in 2025.
