Elowen is a Cornish name meaning "elm tree", from the Cornish word elow; it was coined in the 20th century as part of the Cornish language revival. Its soft sound and link to Elle, Ella and Eloise have carried it far beyond Cornwall. Elowen has risen sharply from number 4092 in 2015, entered the US top 1000 in 2024 and reached number 798 in 2025.
