Imogen first appears in Shakespeare's Cymbeline and is generally thought to be a misprint of Innogen, a Celtic name from the Irish inghean, "maiden" or "daughter". It has long been a British favorite, worn by singer Imogen Heap and actress Imogen Poots, and is still rare in America. Imogen ranked number 6050 in the United States in 2000 and has risen to number 1117 in 2025, its best rank so far.
