Dovid is the Ashkenazi Hebrew and Yiddish pronunciation of David, the name of Israel's greatest king, which means "beloved". The spelling is used almost exclusively in Orthodox Jewish communities, where it keeps the traditional sound of the name as it is read in the synagogue. Dovid has risen from number 1858 in 2000 to number 1213 in 2025, its highest rank so far.
