Damani is a modern American name, usually explained as a blend of Damon and Amani, the Swahili word for "peace", which gives it the sense of "peaceful"; through Damon it also recalls the Greek daman, "to tame". It has been used mainly in African American families since the 1980s. Damani ranked number 1370 in the United States in 2000, reached its peak at number 1156 in 2012 and stood at number 2264 among boys in 2025.
