Damoni is a modern American elaboration of Damon, the Greek name from daman, "to tame" or "to subdue", famous from the legend of the loyal friends Damon and Pythias. The -i ending matches names like Damani and Amani, which gives it a similar rhythm. Damoni has never reached the US top 1000: it stood at number 5090 in 2000, peaked at number 1212 in 2012 and ranked number 2235 among boys in 2025.
