Constantine comes from the Latin Constantinus, derived from constans, and means "steadfast" or "constant". Emperor Constantine the Great, who made Christianity legal in the Roman Empire and founded Constantinople, gave the name its weight, and it remains common in Greek families as Konstantinos. In the United States Constantine has stayed between numbers 1400 and 2500 for decades and ranks number 1573 in 2025.
