Cassia is a Latin name for the "cinnamon" tree and its sweet-smelling bark, taken from the Hebrew qetsiah, which appears in the Bible as Keziah, one of Job's daughters; it was also the name of a Roman family, the gens Cassia. Its soft sound aligns it with Cassidy and Acacia. In the United States Cassia ranked number 3533 in 2000 and has risen gradually to number 2022 in 2025, its highest rank so far.
