Bonnie is a Scottish word name meaning "pretty" or "fine", from the French bon, "good", and it was first used as a given name in the 19th century. Gone with the Wind gave the name to Scarlett O'Hara's daughter, and the song My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean made it familiar everywhere. Bonnie slipped out of the US top 1000 in the 2000s, returned in 2014 and has risen every year to number 396 in 2025.
