Beatriz is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Beatrice, from the Latin Beatrix, "she who brings happiness" or "blessed", which was itself shaped by the earlier Viatrix, "voyager". Dante's Beatrice made the name famous across Europe. In the United States Beatriz is used mainly in Hispanic families; it ranked number 676 in 2000, has since dropped out of the top 1000 and stands at number 1704 in 2025, after number 1910 in 2015.
