Beatrix is the Latin original of Beatrice, probably from viatrix, "voyager", reshaped early on by beatus so that it came to mean "she who makes happy" or "blessed". The children's author Beatrix Potter and the former Dutch queen Beatrix give it a crisp, bookish charm. In the United States Beatrix entered the top 1000 in 2019 at number 984, its best rank, and stands at number 1360 in 2025.
