Azazel is a Hebrew name from Leviticus 16, where the scapegoat is sent into the wilderness "for Azazel"; its meaning is disputed, and it is usually explained as "scapegoat" or as "strong one of God". In the Book of Enoch and later lore Azazel is a fallen angel, and he appears in the X-Men comics. As a baby name it is a daring recent choice: number 4306 in 2015, a best rank of 2825 in 2021 and number 2998 in 2025.
