Azaria goes back to the Hebrew Azaryah, which means "Yahweh has helped" or "helped by God". In the Bible Azariah is a man's name, borne by a king of Judah and by one of Daniel's three companions, but in the United States the softer spelling Azaria is now mainly used for girls. The name was number 941 in 2015, entered the top 1000 in 2021 and has risen to 638 in 2025, its best rank so far.
