Azara is a modern name with several possible sources: it is usually explained as a form of Azaria, the Hebrew name meaning "God has helped", or linked to the Arabic Zahra, "flower" or "radiant". It is also the name of a South American flowering shrub. In the United States Azara has risen steadily from number 15349 in 2000 and number 7675 in 2015 to number 1712 in 2025, its best rank so far.
