Athaliah is a Hebrew name meaning "Yahweh is exalted" or "God is exalted"; in the Books of Kings Athaliah is the queen who seized the throne of Judah and ruled for six years, a rare female monarch in the Bible. The -liah ending gives it the same flow as Aaliyah and Thalia. Athaliah was almost unused until recently and has climbed from number 4763 in 2023 to number 2217 in 2025, its best rank yet, with 83 births.
